Frequently asked questions
Which markets are supported?
This calculator supports UK, US, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. eBay fees vary significantly by region, category, and payment method. Results are estimates based on standard business seller pricing. For accurate international pricing, consult eBay's regional fee documentation or contact their seller support team.
Are the fee calculations accurate?
This calculator provides estimates based on eBay's published fee structures for business sellers. Actual fees may vary based on your seller level (Above Standard, Top Rated), store subscription (Basic, Featured, Anchor), promotional pricing, volume discounts, and specific category exceptions. Always verify with eBay's official fee documentation and your seller dashboard for exact costs.
What's the difference between PayPal and eBay Managed Payments?
eBay Managed Payments is eBay's integrated payment system where all fees are included in the final value fee—no additional payment processing charges. PayPal charges an additional 2.9% + fixed fee per transaction on top of eBay's final value fee. Most sellers now use Managed Payments as it's eBay's default and required system in most markets.
Do you store my pricing data?
No. All calculations are performed locally in your browser using JavaScript. We don't store, transmit, or have access to any of your pricing, product, or transaction data. Your data never leaves your device.
What are final value fees?
Final value fees are eBay's commission charged when your item sells. They're calculated as a percentage of the total sale amount (item price + shipping + taxes) plus a per-order fee. The percentage varies by category, ranging from 5% for NFTs to 15.3% for books and media. Most categories charge between 9.9% and 12.9%.
What are insertion fees?
Insertion fees are charged when you list an item. Most sellers get 250 free listings per month. After that, you pay £0.35 (UK) or $0.35 (US) per listing. eBay Store subscribers get more free listings: Basic (250), Featured (1,500), or Anchor (unlimited). This calculator focuses on final value fees, not insertion fees.
Do international sales have additional fees?
Yes. eBay charges an international fee when the buyer's delivery address is outside your registered country. This fee varies by market: UK sellers pay 1.05% (Eurozone), 1.8% (US/Canada), or 2.0% (other countries). US sellers pay 1.65% for international transactions. Currency conversion may also incur a 2.5-3.5% charge.
How do eBay Store subscriptions affect fees?
eBay Store subscriptions (Basic, Featured, Anchor) provide more free listings and reduced final value fees in some categories. For example, Anchor stores get unlimited fixed-price listings and access to eBay Concierge support. Store fees range from £27/month (Basic) to £437/month (Anchor) in the UK. High-volume sellers typically benefit from store subscriptions.
What happens if my seller level is Below Standard?
Sellers with Below Standard performance levels incur an additional 6 percentage points on top of the standard final value fee. For example, a 10.9% fee becomes 16.9%. Sellers with "Very High" rates of "Item Not As Described" requests face an additional 4 percentage points. Maintaining Above Standard or Top Rated status is crucial for profitability.
